Paige Nelson

After turning in two solid tournaments, Sam Houston State sophomore Paige Nelson received Southland Conference Screen Shot 2014-10-02 at 1.07.37 AM recognition.

Nelson was named the Southland Conference Women’s Golfer of the month for September.

Nelson won the ULM Fred Marx Invitational, her first win of her collegiate career, and then turned around the following week and nearly won the ORU Shootout. Nelson finished second by three shots.

It’s been quite the season for the Creekview High School graduate.

Nelson has placed in the top 15 in all three tournaments and in the top 10 in two.

Nelson is averaging a 72.6 stroke average this season, which, if she remains on pace, would break the program’s record of 75.03.

Nelson was an honorable mention All-Southland selection as a freshman.
