Cochran shoots 8 over at Byron Nelson Championship

LAS COLINAS, Texas – Former Texas A&M Aggie Case Cochran aced his way into the 2014 HP Byron Nelson CaseCochranChampionship.

Once in the tournament, named after former golf great Lord Byron Nelson who passed away in 2006 at age 94, Cochran fired a two-day 8-over 148 (78-70) to miss the cut by eight strokes.

Cochran fired an 8-over 78 in his opening round that included one birdie, seven bogeys, and a double.

The former Aggie settled down in his second round despite starting 3 over his first three holes. Cochran birdied the par-4 sixth, then eagled the par-5 seventh to shoot even par on the front nine. Cochran negated two early bogeys on the back 9 with a birdie on 13 and 18.

Cochran, who played for the Aggies from 2008-13, qualified for the Nelson after acing the fifth playoff hole to claim the third and final spot into the championship.
