Birdies plentiful in HBU’s fifth-place finish

2014 Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational

ERIE, Colo. – The Houston Baptist men’s golf team turned in a top-5 finish at the rain-shortened Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational on Tuesday.

The 54-hole tournament was cut short due to inclement weather, but that didn’t stop the Huskies from a solid finish.

HBU did it behind plenty of birdies.

Trey Cassity, Isaiah Huerta, and Preston Stanely combined for 16 birdies in what ended up being the final round.

Cassity’s 2-over 74 led HBU.

Tournament-host Colorado won the tournament with a 20-under 556. Colorado’s David Oraee won the tournament with a 13-under 131.
